Overall objective of the Project

The project aims to minimize flood risk in the Upper‐Tisza River Basin by mapping and analysing dikes and critical sections of flood plains. By applying the methodology that will be developed in order to achieve this goal, flood control professionals will gain valuable information when making decisions, and this method will not only greatly reduce the risk but also increase flood prevention and control. The project contributes to TO8, Priority 1, as the project aims at flood safety, which is in the common interest of 4 neighbouring countries. The project will contribute to making a stronger cross border cooperation among the Hungarian‐Slovakian‐Romanian‐Ukrainian organizations and stakeholders in the Upper‐Tisza region, for flood risk reduction, to reduce the risk of adverse effects on human health and life, the environment, cultural heritage, economic activities and infrastructure and to provide more effective protective measures.
